Local manufacturing commenced with the acquisition of A.S.L. Plastics in 2000. A new state-of-the-art edgebanding printing and extrusion plant in Sydney opened in 2003, manufacturing products at German quality levels. The purchase of the assets of Consolidated Edgings and the merger with the Australian operations of BauschLinnemann International GmbH in 2005 has led to further strengthening of the company's market position with a vastly expanded product range and stock program for immediate delivery.

SURTECO Australia is ultimately a 100% owned subsidiary of the public company SURTECO SE, which is divided into 2 major product divisions – namely SBU Plastics under Döllken, and SBU Paper under BauschLinnemann. The combined sales of SURTECO SE were 423 Million Euro p.a. in 2006.

SBU Plastics: The Döllken group started in 1888 as a timber trading company and sawmill with the name W. Döllken & Cie in Essen in Germany. In 1954 Döllken was one of the first companies to recognise the significance of plastics, and became a specialist in the extrusion of thermoplastic profiles. Today Döllken produces on 4 continents and is the worlds leading manufacturer of rigid thermoplastic edgebanding with more than 1,200 employees and annual sales of 245 Million Euro in 2006.

SBU Paper: The Paper Division started with Felix Schoeller und Bausch in 1872 and Robert Linnemann in 1965. In 1999 Bausch AG merged with Robert Linnemann GmbH + Co and in 2004 the two operating divisions of each company were merged and renamed BauschLinnemann GmbH under the umbrella of what was then known as SURTECO AG. Today, BauschLinnemann specialises in resin impregnated and lacquered decorative papers, foils, CPL and edgebanding. Australian operations commenced in 1987. BauschLinnemann is the worlds leading melamine edgebanding and finish foil manufacturer with annual sales of 165 Million Euro in 2006.
